Welcome to Lockport, NY

Overview

Lockport is a town in Niagara County that surrounds the city of Lockport, which is the county seat of Niagara County. Lockport is bordered to the north by Newfane and a small part of Hartland; to the east by Royalton; to the south by Erie County (town of Clarence); and to the west by Cambria and Pendleton. Lockport’s name derived from the number of locks on the Erie Canal here (locks allow travel of boats from low-lying areas to higher-lying areas).

Essentials

For grocery shopping, Lockport has three Top’s Friendly Markets stores (on Rochester Road, on South Transit Road and on Lockport/Olcott Road). The Lockport Cave and Underground Boat Ride takes visitors past the locks, through a 1,600-foot tunnel and on an underground boat ride.
