Welcome to Niagara, NY

Overview

Niagara is a town in the southwestern corner of Niagara County that if often confused with the city of Niagara Falls. The town came first, but when the city was established in the late 1800s, Niagara Falls took about half of the town’s land and subsequent annexations reduced the size of the town even more (it’s now just 9 square miles). Further confusing things, Niagara has no separate post office – the town is served by the LaSalle office in Niagara Falls – so the mailing addresses in town are Niagara Falls. The town and its more famous neighboring city are almost interchangeable.
