Recreation & Entertainment

The major attractions here are in Niagara Falls, both in the U.S. and Canadian cities. The waterfalls are major tourist attractions for visitors from all over the world. On the American side, Niagara Falls State Park (the first state park established in the United States) has the Cave of the Winds, which gets pedestrians up close to the incredible falls; the Niagara Scenic Trolley; the Maid of the Mist, a boat journey that gets really close to the falls; the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center, the Niagara Aquarium and more. Niagara Falls also has the very popular Seneca Niagara Casino, which brings in visitors from throughout the region. The Canadian side of Niagara Falls has the more impressive falls and a smorgasbord of things to see and places to shop, dine and party. Niagara Falls, Canada is a major tourist mecca, moreso than the American side. But you’re crossing into another country, so expect lines at the border crossing and bring documentation like a passport or an enhanced New York State driver’s license.

Transportation & Traffic

Pros & Cons

The town of Wheatfield has experienced a lot of growth in recent decades with new housing developments, but still has a largely rural character, with dairy farming the main venture. You’re just minutes away from the busier cities of Niagara Falls and North Tonawanda. A short drive north gets you to historic sites in Lewiston and a quick drive south and you’re in Buffalo.
