Fayette has no village but several hamlets, including Yost Corners, Canoga and Teall Beach. This is a small, quiet town with only about 3,500 residents and few attractions, but you’re close to busier communities like Waterloo and, in Ontario County, Geneva.
Local Museums/Landmarks
For a small town, Fayette has several notable historic properties. The Rose Hill Mansion, which overlooks Seneca Lake, is a National Historic Landmark. Sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places include the William Hoster House and the Christ Evangelical and Reformed Church. Peter Whitmer, a prominent early Mormon, lived in Fayette and the Peter Whitmer Log Home was rebuilt by the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints around 1980. (Mormon history is big in this region; church founder Joseph Smith was from nearby Palmyra.) The Fayette Historical Society operates out of a building on Route 414.
