Recreation & Entertainment Other than the natural beauty of Seneca and Cayuga lakes and nearby state parks, there are not a lot of things to see or do here. Varick is a town of fewer than 2,000 residents, and many here are involved in farming and wineries – this area is part of the well-known Finger Lakes Wine Trail. You’ll find dozens of wineries up and down both Seneca and Cayuga lakes. Seneca Lake is known as the “Lake Trout Fishing Capital of the World,” and lots of folks here are into fishing and boating. Nearby Geneva is your best bet for more things to do, like movie theaters, bowling alleys, the Smith Opera House, shopping and dining. Waterloo, to the north also has more attractions. Sampson State Park, a former U.S. Navy base, is in neighboring Romulus. Seneca Lake State Park is in Geneva, and Cayuga Lake State Park is in Seneca Falls (about 15 miles northeast). |
