Recreation & Entertainment This is the heart of the Finger Lakes, with Seneca Lake along the eastern edge of Torrey and Keuka Lake less than 10 miles west. As such, you’ll want to take in boating, fishing, camping and other outdoor activities here. You’re also in the heart of Finger Lakes Wine Country: Route 14 runs along the eastern edge of town, overlooking Seneca Lake (with breathtaking views) and chock-full of wineries that attract lots of visitors. At the southern end of Seneca Lake, about 24 miles south of Torrey, is Watkins Glen, which has a world-famous racetrack and a spectacular gorge trail accessible via Watkins Glen State Park. For more activities, nearby Penn Yan has a movie-theater multiplex and the popular outdoor crafts market known as The Windmill. Geneva has a vibrant downtown that includes shopping and restaurants, the Smith Opera House, a movie-theater multiplex, bowling and a collegiate baseball league team. |
