Recreation & Entertainment Along with fishing, hunting and other outdoor activities, one of the biggest attractions in Alexander is the Western New York Gas and Steam Engine Association’s annual show, which includes demonstration of antique engines and equipment, log-sawing, tractor pulls and live entertainment. Architectural buffs will enjoy checking out the town’s historic cobblestone buildings. The town of Attica, just south of Alexander, holds an annual rodeo. Batavia, a quick drive northeast, has Batavia Downs Casino and Racetrack, professional baseball, and several golf courses. Darien Lakes Theme Park, the largest theme park in New York, is just a few miles west of Alexander. The Rolling Hills Asylum, a former insane asylum and a former poor house, offers ghost tours and is only 8 miles east, in Bethany. |
