Overview

Located immediately southeast of the City of Rochester is the Town of Brighton, one of Monroe County's oldest communities. The upscale suburb is just fifteen square miles and yet it boasts six major park sites complete with lodges, playgrounds, pools, sport facilities, walking trails and more. Combine these green areas with tree-lined, well-manicured neighborhoods and it's no wonder that the town is known for its charm.

Brighton boasts an impressive and nationally ranked school system that provides area youngsters with not just academic training, but substantial opportunities to excel in the arts and athletics as well. There is also an active Rowing Club and most area youngsters participate in Brighton Baseball and Soccer. The heart of Brighton lies at its main intersection of Monroe Avenue, Winton Road and Elmwood Avenue, known to locals as Twelve Corners. Here, a landscaped lot holds a simple gazebo, and local businesses cater to the needs of residents.

Local Museums & Landmarks
The Historic Buckland Farmhouse (open by appointment only), is located at 1341 Westfall Road, and Stone-Tolan House, at 2370 East Avenue, is a 1792 Federal-style tavern/pioneer homestead.

Brighton is home to a large number of young, upscale families – drawn to the area because of its excellent school system and small town atmosphere. Its close proximity to all that the City of Rochester has to offer makes this an attractive location for young adults and seniors as well.

Tops Plaza on South Clinton features not only Tops Market, but a number of restaurants, hair salons, a post office and more. Many small, locally owned shops dot Monroe Avenue; and well-loved eateries surround Twelve Corners, offering everything from homemade bagels or frozen custard to ethnic eats and gourmet food.

A number of locally owned restaurants thrive in this region; and town parks invite residents to explore meandering areas of green.

Transportation & Traffic

Route 390 and 590 both run through Brighton; with the main roads of Monroe Avenue, Winton Road, Clinton Avenue, and Elmwood Avenue making travel in the area pretty straight forward.
