Recreation & Entertainment The town of Niagara is more known for its shopping, including the Fashion Outlet Mall and Walmart. The city of Niagara Falls has oodles of things to do and see, namely the falls themselves. Niagara Falls State Park, the first state park in the country, includes attractions like the Cave of the Winds and the Maid of the Mist, both of which get visitors an up-close look at the falls. Niagara Falls has the Niagara Gorge Discovery Center and Prospect Point, which has an observation deck and more. Seneca Niagara Casino attracts visitors from throughout the region. Crossing over the border into Canada requires documentation like a passport or an enhanced New York State Driver’s license. Once you’re across the border (crossings are just minutes from the town), you’ll find Niagara Falls, Canada is much busier and touristy than its American counterpoint. The Horseshoe Falls there are the better-known and more impressive of the “Niagara Falls.” The Canadian side is a tourist mecca, with kitschy attractions and casinos of its own. Back on the American side is the Niagara Aquarium, a variety of museums, a haunted house of wax and Whirlpool State Park, where you can hike along the Niagara Gorge Rim Trail. |
