Welcome to Perry, NY


Overview

The town of Perry is on the eastern edge of Wyoming County, bordered to the north by Covington, to the east by Livingston County, to the south by Castile and to the west mostly by Warsaw, the county seat. With about 6,500 residents, Perry includes the village of Perry and the hamlets of Perry Center and West Perry Center. Main Street in the village is lined with Victorian homes, while downtown features classic brick buildings.


Essentials

For groceries, the Perry Food Market-IGA is at 121 N. Center St. For larger supermarkets, residents take a short drive west to Warsaw, where you’ll find a Top’s Friendly Markets store, a Save-a-Lot store and Lantz’s Bulk Foods. Geneseo, about 12 miles northeast in Livingston County, has a Wegman’s supermarket and a lively downtown with plenty of retail options. Warsaw also has several stores, including a Walmart on Route 19. The regional hospital is Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. The Perry Central School District covers families who live here, as does the Perry Public Library.



Recreation & Entertainment

Nearby Silver Lake, which supposedly has a resident sea serpent, has affordable cottages, camps and a golf course and a state park. The Charcoal Corral is a popular attraction that includes the Silver Lake Twin Drive-In Theater and a miniature golf course. The local American Legion post hosts an annual fishing derby and a soapbox derby for kids. Perry’s Downtown Farmer’s Market runs during the growing season. 



Transportation & Traffic

Routes 20A, 39 and 246 pass through the town of Perry. Route 39 is the village of Perry’s Main Street.



Pros & Cons

Perry has more entertainment options than many of the surrounding towns, but still has a strong agricultural tradition with a small-town feel where farming is king and rural landscapes rule.
